Newborn Session
-Newborn photos are taken within the first two weeks after birth. Please call ASAP after baby is born to schedule your session!
-Newborn sessions start at 8:30am. During the summer months, newborn sessions will only occur during the week. This is due to the nature of newborn sessions and the need for my own children to be at daycare so we can have a quiet house to work with. Thank you for understanding!
-The room will be very warm (around 80*F), so plan to dress accordingly. This is to help baby stay asleep during the session with little to no clothes on. I will also have a diffuser with lavender and white noise playing. This is all to help baby to sleep.
-Babies sleep better when their bellies are full. Please try to plan a feeding upon arrival. We can take as many breaks as needed to keep baby's belly full and "milk drunk!" Don't forget to bring extra formula if you are not nursing baby.
-It is helpful to have baby dressed in loose clothes to avoid compression lines on baby's skin. Also put baby's diaper on a little loose before the session.
-If baby takes a pacifier, then please bring it! It can help to soothe a restless baby. Also bring extra diapers, wipes, and anything you want baby photographed in.
-Try to relax! Babies can sense when mom is nervous. I will not put baby into any positions that I do not feel comfortable with, or know to be safe. If you ever feel that the safety of your baby is in question, please say something! We want everyone to be comfortable and relaxed! Depending on the desired poses, I may need mom or dad's help. If you are ever uncertain of what you are doing don't hesitate to ask! If you are uncomfortable with assisting that is totally fine and we can skip that pose.
-Siblings can come for family photos at the beginning of the session, but please arrange for them to be picked up soon after. It is very helpful to have a calm, quiet environment for the majority of the session.
-We have many props, wraps, and backdrops available. You may choose any of ours and may also bring your own. Please be sure to tell me any special requests for colors, themes, or and special props that you will be bringing so I can plan accordingly. We will also be taking many naked photos, but we will make sure baby's private areas are covered or hidden. Keep in mind that the more outfits that we have to change, the more baby will wake up, so less outfit changes are better. Wraps and accessories are a great way to change the look but keep baby from waking as much.
-The typical session will take 3 hours. Babies are on their own schedules, and we have to work around them. It may take some time to get baby into that deep sleep that we will need for those beautiful poses.
-Again, please try to relax during the session! Bring a book, magazine, or just sit and relax! You are even welcome to take a nap on the couch just outside the studio.
-If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us!
